Expanding poo

I have 2 pint jars and 2 1/2 pint jars with composted cow dung/rye flour/verm mix but they are more than 50% dung. I innoculated them with pan cyans monday or tuesday. the jars were filled within 1 1/2" from the top of the jar and today i look at them and one of the pint jars have popped off the micron magick disks right off! it seemed to expand and it created litle airspaces in the substrate. they smell no different from when i made them; and it is all 4 jars that expanded, the other quart jars substrate is touching the disk and the 1/2 quart ones have swollen too but arent quite at the top (yet...) has anyone ever heard of this? its prolly my own fault for keeping the substrate so close to the top but i didnt think this would happen. is this normal?
