Sure it's cobweb? If the cake is fully colonized it's pretty contam resistant.

If you are having a cob web problem, you need to increase the amount of fresh air your cakes are getting. Cob web loves humid stale air.

Not sure, I always toss mine with cob web so it won't spread.

Hey..How about not using caps for EVERY WORD. IT"S QUITE RUDE. ALMOST LIKE YELLING WHEN SOMEONE IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU.
To anwser your question.
Yes.
But i'd probably dunk them in a h202 solution (3%).
Then I'd clean out the FC.

No pics, i got no digi, but i'll have some up in a couple weeks cause i just got a job that pays $12.40 per hour so i'll have the cash to buy one. But in a couple weeks i'll probably all ready know the answer to my question cause they will have already pinned or they'll still be growing cobweb and no shroom action. IGnosticAbhorI, you recomended dunking the cakes in a 3% h2o2 solution. that won't harm the cakes at all being completely submerged in h2o2? and what do you recomend for dunk time? I am also interested in absinsinth, I seen it advertised in high time. THANKY YOU SO MUCH FOR THE HELP!!!!

Are there pins? if they're not pinheads yet, I agree with Ignostic. You gotta get cleaned up. I had some casings stay in a pmp for 1 week while the second flush occured. When I came back, they were looking pretty shabby and there was fuzz all the way up the cap to the umba. My point is, the "fuzz" was like cobweb induced by lack of gas exchange (like hippychick said) So, yeah, I think they'll pin. I incidentally, threw away 116 g wet, I still would prefer to stay away from contaminants. *cough *cough

I just checked out my cakes and i seen a pin!!! So cakes will deffinetly pin if they have cobweb mold. Now this leads me to 2 other questions. What will happen if my pins get h2o2 on them? Will this kill them? Has anyone eaten a shroom grown from a cake w/ cobweb?OR Is it safe to eat a shroom grown from a cobweb cake? I went from pissed off to happy as hell! This is my first grow and i figured i had fucked up my cakes, might as well toss em now. When i seen the pin it sure as hell brightened up my day. Even if they don't turn out or if they won't be safe to eat i'll still be happy just to see the first signs of mushrooms. Shit man, it's official, i've grown a magic mushroom (even if it is only 1/2 a millimeter)! That's all i wanted was to actually grow my own magic mushroom! Next time i'm putting sanitation on the top of my list!

If you really want to brighten your day you may heed the advice that told you to clean out your FC and to dunk your cakes in H2O2 solution. I also toss any cake I find that is contaminated cause when it comes down to it--I can grow a whole lotta more mushies than I can ever do! Peace!

Are you positive that it's cobweb, and not just fuzzy myc? Fuzzy myc will sometimes seem to disappear when hit with an h2o2 bath.
Cobweb is kind of grey, while fuzzy myc is pure white.

would fuzzy mycelium start growing onto the jar lid that the cakes are resting on? It also comes right back within 2 days, would fuzzy mycelium do that? Any one got pictures of what fuzzy mycelium looks like or a good description of it? I hope i wasn't wasting all that time worring about cobweb if it's mycelium. I'm pretty sure it's cobweb because it spreads so quick but it is definetly a possibility that it is mycelium because it is white, almost the exact same color as the mycelium. It only grows around the bottom of the cake near the lid, never on the top or above a 1/2 inch from lid.

Well when I first saw fuzzy myc on my cakes, I freaked out & thought that it was cobweb. I gave them an h2o2 bath a few times (even a bleach bath once), and the fuzziness came back in about 2-3 days every time.
Then I remembered reading about how sometimes shrooms would be fuzzy under high humidity, did some searches, and came to realize that all along I had been fighting fuzzy mycelium!
Check out my recent topic "Humidity Too High?", as well as the related topics for more info. Also Roadkill was kind enough to post a good pic of a mean cobweb mold. Notice how it almost looks grey.

Yeah, I had the same thing as Arrakis and FREAKED!! If your humidity is really high, you will probably have white fuzz on the bottoms of your shrooms too.
