Hi,
after my trip to Mexico, I started with the Psi. semperviva again, and could bring them to sporulate. I made some photos for you to enjoy.
They need very high humidity so that the fruitbodies develop and sporulate, I mean really high...

Hi Clubb,
thanx. How is it going with yours? The aztecs are germinating. I can win now a good culture. The caer. haven't yet, but I put new ones on agar yesterday...
Hi Bio,
its your culture. I use past. straw spawned with rye. The babies get really big, some of them are about 15 cm high and have a cap of ca. 6 cm.
They like it really humid, er else they abhort. The ones directly on rye are much smaller.

It takes the fruitbody sometimes up to 40 days to mature. I think that is why heim & Cailleux called it semperviva (from latin). Looking at a dictionary I found: semper - Adv. semper ( = always). semper-vi-vus (= always living).
Therefore I would say semper-vi-va = the always living.
If the conditions are right, this fruitbodies on the photo needed "only" 3 weeks to mature...
Bio,
sure you can have a print. I'll e-mail you. I'll need some days until I have a print though.

I've grown the semperviva and I don't think its the same as bluemeanie's material judging by the mycelial characteristics.
Ralphster44, you might want to look at the date of the original post and try to be a bit more timely on the spore begging next time.

Revival for the purposes of posterity. This is a great piece of history right here and at the point we are right now with semps being grown rampantly I think this very old thread ought to come to the top for people to see, if only just for a brief.
I believe that reviving this old thread is "using the site as it's creator intended". That's why the function is there.

When they first came out I thought it was because they would continue Flushing after 3rd and 4th flushes
The thing about being alive forever I just now heard. it was that it would continue Flushing when I first heard of them
