First Pins!
    #4288467 - 06/12/05 09:28 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

so first off my issues....
i started off with an icubater using a heating pad..it was horrid, my jars dried to much and were cool on the top and hot on the bottom...so i finally got a decent tit build and transfered my jars..
its working great..pretty constant temp around 79-81. well i had some pf jars that got a bit too compacted and were going really slow with the temp fluxs from the old imcubator..they have been in the incubator for a week or so..and some of the pint pfs are still not complete (at least 75% though)..well i noticed yesterday that one of the jars had side pins coming up...and today i found another jar that had at least half a dozen pins starting, but the jars arent complete! i was thinking of birthing em and putting em into the pmp with the other cake thats pinning in there....
what do yall think?
why did they start pinning on there own in the incubator?

thanks,

namaste,
captmueller

first pins are very exciting, my casings keep failing...

if they are pinning....well...how colonized are they? If over 75% I would just take em out, cut out the uncolonized parts with a sterile knife, and put them in the fruiting chamber...if not, I'd just let them grow invetro...open them when the fruits are mature, then pick the cake clean, dunk and shock it then fruit it.

congrats on the first fruits!

they are at around 90% i would say...looking at em...one of the pins is a little over an inch long and growing...
ill be fruiting em here in a short bit and cutting out the non colonized and put em in the fruiting chamber....
finally....getting closer

captmueller

ok.....i birthed em...and put em in the fruiting chamber, after i cut out the uncolonized parts....the middle didnt have a lot of colonization, is this normal? will it finish colonizing in the pmp?
i managed to get em out of the jars without hurting the pins that were growing, do yall think they will still grow or abort?

thanks,

namaste,
captmueller

they may stop growing or slow down for a day or so i would imagine since i am assuming they got muscled around a bit being taken out of the jar with the cakes. I'm really high right now, so that's not based in any real fact or anything, just sort of hypothesising with no evidence lol...

Yes, often the middle looks less colonized than the outer edges.
