cobweb won't leave, are my cakes doomed?
    #4286450 - 06/12/05 01:19 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

I have cobweb mold on a couple of my brf/verm cakes. I sprayed cobweb with 3% h2o2 and it seemed to take care of it but a couple of days later it came back. This time I used a Q-tip to apply the h2o2 to the cobweb so I wouldn't be spraying it all over the mycelium, it worked good but i'm thinkin the mold will be back in a couple of days. Are my cakes doomed or will they survive and hopefully grow some mushrooms?

I've prolonged some contaminated cakes by cutting off the bad part. Use lots of bleach/alcohol and a torch to keep everything clean, then dunk and roll. The myc should fill in the surgery site. Add a flush if you're lucky.

The mold is more than likely inside of the cake. It should fix itself later on in the cakes life, but that doesn't help you now. I would dunk the cake in a 1:200 bleach solution in the fridge for 12 hours. Tha'll take care of it.
