Hello All, I have a quick ID request. I found these interesting capaphores in South West Montana, Gallatin County. They were growing on bark under some Aspen trees. There didn't appear to be any other species in the vicinity. The picture should be pretty clear. The spore print appears to be of a grey-blackish nature. The longest stem length I measured was 2.5 inches, the average was just about 3/4 of an inch (freshly picked).
These were found June 11, 2005 right after a week of rain. I am hoping to get an accurate identification of these beauties. I found quite a few of them in this little landscaped bark (grey wood chips) bed.
Hope I provided enough information.
Thank you!

Welcome to the Shroomery Btraven. The grey-blackish spore print and and woody habitat seem to indicate Psathyrella or Coprinus; yours look more like Psathyrellas.

Thanks - Shroomydan,
That was a very quick response! I appreciate it!
Is this Psathyrella similar to the edible Psathyrella mushrooms of Haiti?
Thanks again!!
