Modest Mouse
    #4283998 - 06/11/05 06:23 PM (12 years, 13 days ago)

I can't get enough of this band. My favorite album has to be Lonesome crowded West.

Any other fans around?

yeah i like them, i've owned different cds over a period of time and tend to lose them, so i've listened to them in spurts.

however, my favorite cd is ugly casanova, which is by the lead singer and i don't know who else, but its better than all other modest mouse.

Ohhhhh Modest Mouse, what wonderful music. Just yesterday while lamenting not paying the 35 to see the Pixies, i was thinking about how much Isaac Brock reminds me more and more of Frank Black. They have an ability to imbue a manic sense of urgency to their songs that makes me want to shoot out my arms and wave my hands. While I greatly admire what the lads have been doing for the past decade or so, I feel Good News for People Who Love Bad News is a cut above their previous efforts if for no other reason than it feels like they've really honed their skills and tightened their belts. On the other hand many complain they've gone too Pop. Either way, Modest Mouse is great. Favorite Song: Tiny Cities Made Of Ashes

I Came As A Rat's chorus is hella Pixies-ish.

i've heard their shows are usually hit or miss, depending on how drunk Isaac is.

been listening to the band for about 4 years now and still haven't gotten to see them live. :frown:

Dude, fucking insane. I came to the Shroomery to post about how incredible Modest Mouse is... and the most recent post is the exact thing I wanted to say. I believe Modest Mouse is good music to listen to... and the best music to be stoned too... mmmmm. My favorite is "Building Something Out Of Nothing" right now. But I love everything I've heard from them.

This band is the greatest.

Someone I know said that their shows tend to be hit or miss because Isaac is manic depressive.  I don't know though, I get really skeptical once people start talking about other people and their mental states of being.

Now that I reflect on the show, there wasn't much talking being done by anyone on stage to the crowd.  They sounded brilliant, it really was amazing.  Weird kind of vibe though.

Or maybe I've just been listening to too much live pinback

I would have to say they are my favorite band right now ... well for a while now. I lent Good News to a friend and I desperately need it back!! Lonesome Crowded West is my favorite.

One of my all time favorite bands, the moon and antarctica, the lonesome crowded west, and the fruit that ate itself are my favorite CD's, but interstate 8 and this is a long drive for someone with nothing to think about have thier great songs too. I have two of thier imports and thier studio version of Good news called Float on 7, it's much better.

Yeah i love Modest Mouse and i got to see them at Bonnaroo just recently. It was a great show...it was actually alot better than i thought it would be because i saw them on conan and it sucked bad. But this show was very good. heh my favorite album is The Moon and Antartica and i think i want "Blame it on the Tetons" to be played at my funeral when i die, maybe "Baby Blue Sedan" too.
