Mushroom Pairs

Hi,

I read in several places that people separate mushrooms into pairs before ingesting... E.g., Maria Sabina gave R. Gordon Wasson 13 pairs of mushrooms.
Can anyone explain the significance of the pairs?

Idians believed that they have to go in pairs because mushrooms like to be together and not tanken lonely...

The "Little Ones" are regarded as male and female - not anatomically but symbolically. Dick Alpert spoke of this with regard to his Cuernavaca, Mexican initiation in 1961. They are also passed through the smoke of copal incense - not only to drive out mites, but to ritually purify them.

There is such a thing as a dual-flame, in which a spirit-form lives two seperate lives as a male and a female, simultaneously. They are the same soul, but they are unaware of each other.
Same concept, just with mushrooms
