Bird Flu
    #4282711 - 06/11/05 09:49 AM (11 years, 5 months ago)

This bird flu thing is already making news in Asia.
I'm from the U.K and someone told me that its dangers loom in this part of the world too. Is this true?

Yes, few humans living have any immunity against this strain of virus and we are overdue for a flu pandemic. This bird flu may not be the one that get's us, but it's only a matter of time. The one thing that's been missing with the bird flu is the ability of the virus to be easily transmissable between humans. That would be the lit match on the straw. It would light a fire that would sweep around the world in months.

There has been some evidence of human-to-human transmission, but the good news is that the virus seems to have lost most of its punch in making that transition and is much less virulent.
