I am going to go buy a bag of WBS soon and was just wondering if anyone knew a brand or type that they carry are say a super walmart so i dont have to worry about which one to pick, i can just get what others have used and have success with. i understand that a LOT will work but if someone would do that it would be helpful. Thanks, Helge

I was just at Walmart today. They sell a couple that should be good. Wild Finch Food has a lot of millet and so did the Parakeet Food. Neither were very expensive

Please, you don't need to spend $10.00 for a bag of birdseed. I exclusively use WBS from Wal-Mart. By the Bird Ration brand. It's $0.94 for a 4 pound bag. I have cultivated over 50 jars using this brand and it works flawlessly.
One half of a 4 lb bag of the Bird Ration WBS will fill 6 jars full to the top or 7 jars about 2/3 full after soaking and pressure cooking. That's $0.06 a jar in material cost.

it wasn't $10 for a bag. It was like $9.14 for the two bags that together were 15 lb. I didn't see anything cheaper (Bird Ration?)

shit, I got the wild finch food because it was mostly millet. I didn't see cheap stuff, probably should have been more sober when trying to find something this important

No problem Helge. Stock up while you're there if you plan to do a lot of cultivating. I usually buy 4-6 bags at a time. You can't beat 24 lbs of WBS for less than $6.00.

I usually do about 5 quart jars of colonized WBS to every 12-15 pounds of pasteurized horse manure. 12 quart jars should light up 40 pounds of horse manure nicely.
