After pins start

After you have pins on cakes Is the light 12 hours a day still required, or is it better to leave it in the dark. Or does it matter at all>?

once you get pins, keep the normal light cycle you have been using

i would stop misting once you get pins...misting can cause aborts once the pins start

keep fanning though!

OK thanks, so if I cant mist, will the humidity be enough? I only have perlite. And by the way, none of the teks explain that misting casuses aborts. I sure wish they would off. I have been misting like hell (just the sides of the chamber, but of course some of that mist lands on the pins i would think) damn i hope I have not ruined this flush.

Drop the light cycle off, you don't need 12/12 once pins come in. Also, misting the casing directly won't hurt. I feel that a correct misting can and will improve a pinset.

Its a cake not a casing. Does the same still apply?

What Diver said.

There is usually no need to directly mist a cake.

Ok thanks, and no I dont mist the cake at all on purpose. Mostly it is from my fruiting chamber bieng on the small side when i mist the sides i know some mist gets on the cakes. Light will not hurt the cake if i take it out during the day in a room with no light and very little indirect sunlight? Its eaisier to fan out there every hour then to have to go in the closet every time. thanks for all of your guys help./

i have just lost a whole perfect pinset on a casing, all pins grew to about 1 inch or less and then massively aborted. i don't know why. maybe misting, maybe too hot in the chamber, maybe casing too dry.
