Yeah I know you aren't trying to make me jealous. I just envy the older heads like you that got to see them in their heyday. But I know when I'm a little older there will be people younger than me saying how lucky I was being able to see Weir, Lesh, Hart or Kreutzman perform.

KOTT liked the band from a long time ago, he's just getting more into them lately.

Kind of the same deal with me.  I was a "greatest hits" type of Dead fan.  Now I'm getting more and more into the other stuff.  This evolution of my Dead appriciation can be tied directly to........The Pub!

i think you might have a couple of years on me, kc, but we're basically in the same boat.

it's very funny to think that 20 years from now, people will be listening to some of the phish shows that i saw with the similar awe, jealousy, and basic feeling of having missed something huge that i get when i listen to a good dead show from the 70s.

I'll answer this question at a later date. :smirk:

I have never been a big fan of GD.  I went to some shows in the early 90's and I'm glad I got to see Jerry before he died.  But their music never did a whole lot for me.  The scene was great though, and I have many friends who would be considered heads.  But truth is that if you came to my house I couldn't produce any GD music for you to listen to.  Not a tape, CD, or MP3.  They're just not my cup of tea.

Ahh....how many of my friends have woken up to find that I had done that very same thing to them when they were passed out.  Ahh, memories.

No, the pub has actually made me like the Dead less and I used to play in a band that did Jack Straw, Bertha, and a few other Dead covers.

The Pub beats you about the head and neck with the Dead.

Most of the threads pertaining to them should be in Music and Literature, but they are tolerated here.

The Pub should be renamed The Deadheads forum.

If I have, I've forgotten. I apologize for sounding harsh. You guys really do show a lot of love for each other. I was just traumatized by the guys I played in the band with. They were all like "I'm more Deadhead than you because ________". I really do enjoy the music, but I can't help but be reminded of those guys every time the Dead is mentioned, and I apologize again for projecting them onto you guys.

Yeah, there was a time when I was often mistaken as one. Here is a pic of me and my brother at Laguna Seca Daze music festival in 1993. I am the one in tye-dye!
