Wild lettuce opium
    #4280127 - 06/10/05 03:25 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

I must say, I certainly had my doubts about it.
I bought about 2oz. of wild lettuce at a local herb shop/farmacy. I boiled it for about half the day and strained. I kept it on a low boil in a GLASS pot until it was just goop and scraped it up with a knife (this is why you don't want to use a metal pot). I put it away to let it harden up so that it would be more managable. Well, I forgot about it for a few months. I experiment quite often with many things at once and sometimes I get caught up with other things(ADD). Anyways, I found it today and desided to smoke it instead of ingesting it as I was informed to do. I was too unsure on how to dose it. I dropped a piece about the size of a pencil eraser into a test tube and commenced to smoke. I was a little weary about the harshness of the smoke, but it is incredibly smooth and actually a little sweet (like opium). It even smells quite nice. I left the room after finishing it off and returned to a quite pleasing aroma. I felt a slight stone but it was accompanied by a strange sense of pressure on my temples.
I have heard of a cold extraction involving everclear and was wandering if anyone might know if it yielded a more potent product (since it is heat sensitive).

I never had much luck with it. If you smoke a lot of the extract, MAYBE, but even then, it's pretty damn weak. An alcohol extract (with any kind of alcohol) will be more effective than a water alone extraction.

I've smoked an extract once. Definately felt something. Nothing special though and definately not worth the price the local hippie was charging.

It's not really opium...more like lettuce.

if you care ....... you can take 2 or 3 heads of romaine lettuce, blend it in to juice in a blender, strain out the pulp in an old T shirt, hard boil the "juice" until "chunks" form, scoop out the chunks (it is just plant matter), and boil it down and eat it. balls about the size of a nickle work nicely. It seems like a lot of work but its not too bad just a lot to read. it will not "rock your world" but it is relaxing and makes a pleasant night ..... providing you don't do alot of drugs. then it just wont see to match up

peace
