Why would that make any difference? If you have a cake growing.. when you case you break it up and it gows back together.. basically like another cake .. but with more nutrients.. so if anything casing would make any strain grow better

day 14 - bigger pins forming over casing, not very many of them, however.

Anno, I think that was a question he was asking. Buy you saying "it makes a difference, beleive cdc" doesnt really help anyone. Its kinda like saying "why does it make a difference?" - "just cause.."

Can someone advised as to how to spray the castings? I?m more familaur with the PF TEK, however I have recently seen my buds trays that look like yours EXCEPT the top is very very dry with the mycelrium poping thru in a few spots. At first they were kept in the dark and started to develop cobweb mold... So an aquraium light was left on for 24 hours. this killed the cobweb mold dead in it?s tracks. However the tops are now as dry as sand! The white fungus still looks pretty healthy with spots bigger than a US quarter. Does one just spray a fine mist of water onto the dry areas, or does one spray the entire top- fungus and all? Thanks.

to my understanding there would be less nutrients because casing layers are nutrient free (that?s to my understanding because I believe that coco coir has no nutrients)

Casing makes most strains grow better, but with MR and PF it causes it to produce far too many pins. So many that the mycelium can?t provide enough water/nutrients to all of them, so that most, if not all, abort. I?m not a bad grower (if I do say so myself;) but casings I?ve made of MR and PF have produced an average of 2 or 3 fully developed fruits. Along with zillions of aborts. For example.... That?s the only mature fruit this casing produced.

Give it more time. I bet that the "giants" develop very shortly.

about pf & casings... pf?s also have been grown out by fanaticus time and time again using pf cakes- fruited off cakes. not varying the repetoire to include casing can prompt the strain to be apt to fruit "best" on cakes... lesser on casings. also- pf?s been working with that strain for *quite* a long time, not a bash, but sometimes degeneration occurs over several years of a particular strain when grown in exactly the same coditions, on the same substrate, etc. and finally, pf?s are known to be those fat asses you see... just a trait of the strain... hehe.. cdc, give it time. and drink a blue hawaii for me too... ::grin:: jammer- i dont know if bill answered you and deleted the answer? but you can *lightly* spray casings (not casting- castings are worm poo... unless youre using worm poo for casing?) thru the colonization period of the casing layer until you see pinning. then stop. spraying pins can lead to abhorts (so can pf strain...). dont drown the mycelia of the casing layer... just do it lightly so theres no standing water on the mycelia/casing material. ps- my comments on the pf strain is not me saying pf sucks (actually HQ just got a syringe from pf the other day)...

i just may start all over because i am seeing zillions of aborts, so what strain of ps. cub. is best (highest yields) for casing? what substrate method should i use?

Hmm, might give it a go, just out of curiosity. I stopped growing PF aaages ago, the only reason I grew that PF was because it was a mislabeled print

>Buy you saying "it makes a difference, beleive cdc" doesnt really help anyone. True. I often don?t have time(and lust) to elaborate on every question. That?s why I went with CdC on this one and left others(him) to reply it. Another example of the PFstrain giving too many pins:

Why arent you harvesting the abhorts? They are a damm good trip! And that just might help the real ?shrooms come along faster too.

Thanks for the answer to my question. yea Bill answered me, then aparently deleted it after he seen that I read it. Your reply was a little more specific and I greatly apreciate that.
