Black Slimy Spots
    #4278082 - 06/10/05 12:54 AM (12 years, 3 months ago)

can somebody tell me what the shit is that grows on caps and it starts off as a dark spot and ends up as a black slimy spot that kinda looks black and slimy like the inside of a dog's lip?.... i don't have pics but if you have seen it, then maybe you will know what i'm talking bout. i was kinda wondering if it's a contam within the casing, in the air, or something that happens if the environment isn't maintained properly.... it looks kinda like bacterial blotch but it starts out as a small spot and grows out and makes everything black and slimy.

More than likely bacterial blotch or some derivative. Up your air exchange and cut back on misting. Be sure to boil any fruits before eating to avoid getting food poisoning.

so could it be too high humidity?.... it started without even misting once (i fucked up there too.. failed to mist properly)..... and so far i have just cut the bad spot off (if it had'nt gone in too deep) and dried. is there still a chance of getting food poisoning after they've dried?

No. It's the live bacteria that will make you sick.

Too much humidity won't cause it, but stale air will.

You'd be surprised. I'd throw a piece of cardboard or some straw over it for shade. Give it a month or two and it'll probably fruit if it's not in direct sun.
