Yep.. so I finally have been able to surf and get over my fear of sharks. cause ya know... my area has been known to have great whites (off the end of the island) and many other sharks but nothing serious... esp. where i surf.

there's always that weird feeling though. sitting there, feeling like prey, in flat water (cause this is long island... our waves are not great all the time and very inconsistent) plus the water... can't see an inch down. it's murky... almost always. and smelly b/c of all the alge and shit. yes and tampons and diapers washing up on ur board.

well in Surf City, NJ they said there was a shark attack. kid got bit on his leg, 50 stitches. if that's all... im okay w/ that. but shit... i think the fear just started creeping back up and now Saturday's surf doesn't seem as exciting as it was yesturday.

ya exactly!! that's what i have finally come to thinking. if i get killed by a shark.. okay cool. im gonna die one day... might as well be doing something i love. but im scared it won't do the deed and i'll end up like Bethany Hamilton and just have 1 arm. THAT freaks me out.

Call me crazy but i want to get bit by a shark mauled a bit by a bear and have one bullet wound hell id even take a snake bite.

Or maybe that's me now saying it while I'm sitting safely in my chair.
Would be cool to have all those stories. I see the HEAD LINE now... "Man dies after nearly escaping death on numerous occasions dies from massive blood loss do to a paper cut."
