Pan foes are not toxic. Neither are they gourmet.

Far as I know they have NEVER had actives. It's a hill myth. I suppose the close relation to pan subbs perhaps might ordain them with micro amounts of psilocybin, but nothing to trip on.... Unless you eat 100!! By then you'll be puking your sick guys out for hours, if you even get past eating 20 of them.

pan foes are not active, and not edible.

eating alot of pan foes still wouldn't make you feel anything cause they contain no psilocybin whatsoever. and eating over 20 wont make you puke. eating 100 wouldn't make you puke either. if anything eating alot of them would cause mild diahrea. the only negative effect from eating one would be the bad taste in your mouth.

I think not. Especially for someone not used to eating gourmet mushrooms. For me, eating twenty non tasteful mushrooms without results of tripping probably would make me sick. Not to mention the things are crawling with dirt and bugs, even within the stems that you can't see( sometimes). Besides, can you say yourself you've been out to the field and munched 20 pan foes?

Flowstone.

Would like to point out something to you. Panaeolina foenisecii does not grow in any fields anywhere. It is a lawn mushroom.

Not a field mushroom.

well..i got news for all of you. i have boiled about 50 pan foes before and made tea. the experience was mild but i did have an alternate state of mind. i didnt puke but i did feel nauseous. so, to speak from experience, that is what happened.

http://www.mushroomjohn.com/guidetext4.htm
"While two children in California developed a "mydriasis-fever-convulsions" syndrome after ingesting mushrooms taken from a lawn habitat, another in the state of Washington was reported to have died due to complications following the suspected consumption of hallucinogenic mushrooms. Also, three children were reportedly mildly poisoned after accidentally grazing on lawn specimens of Panaeolina foenisecii (a non-hallucinogenic mushroom). Later investigations of Panaeoliuna foenisecii by Allen and Merlin (1992b), reported that this species is not psychoactive. "

That doesn't say the kid who died ate Pan foens. "...Suspected consumption of hallucinogenic mushrooms" led to the death of that one. The three who ate Pan foens were "reportedly mildly poisoned"

No harm can come from questioning. "Best" case scenerio: You prove it right without relying on the fact that it is widely accepted. Argument strengthened. "Worst" case scenerio: You realize you might have been wrong. The new answer might or might not be what you want to hear, but it beats defending yourself with bullshit.

I believe the possibilty of activity is there. Most people take the side of something ALWAYS being inactive, or ALWAYS being active. I think with questionable mushrooms like this, the possibility is there. Yes, there have been tests done saying they are inactive. But also, I am sure tests have been put on other actives with the same result. I am also aware that due to certain environmental conditions, the psilocybin content is variable. Maybe some areas/years/seasons they are active, and some not. What really needs to be done is some experimenting first hand, like findaway. That is the only way to tell for sure I suppose.

The kid who died ate reportedly ate Psilocybe baeocystis as reported by mycologist Rolf Singer nad was in a medical h journal. However, polaroid photo images taken by the doctor involved int he case are actually that of Psilocybe cyanescens and were misidentified by Singer and Smith as P. baeocystis, an error which continued to appear in numerous shroom guides warning people about the toxicity of P. baeocystis.

And Panaolina foenisecii is not active whatsoever. Even jonathan Ott boiled a tea with close to a pound.

Two paper in the early 1960s inadvertantly misidentified mushrooms which they analysed as Pan foens but were some other species.

20? i've munched hundreds to no effect. the diahrea wasn't worth it though.

and findaway29, the only state of mind you reached from pan foes was the "wow im not tripping" state.
