wbs pint jars (air exchange question)

i dont have any tvyek or any of that, just coffee filters. i was wondering if a couple coffee filters under the lid, with a 1/4 or 1/2 hole would be good for innoc and air exchange.

coffee filters won't stop contams. You can get tyvek envelopes for free from the post office.
Even if you leave the lids tight the whole time, it'll still work out.
It's just alot nicer, easier if they can breathe.

like he said, coffee filters arent microfilters... if u have a spare pillow u can cut it open and take some of the stuffing out and punch a hole in the lid of each jar and stuff about a little less than a goldball size ammoutn of the pillow stuffing in the hole to allow for air exchange and contam filtering. this is called polyester fiber fil or polyfil

thanks for the tip! besides the polyfil, is another cover essential? when i discovered that i only had 4 coffee filters, the idea popped into my head "hey, theres some of that polyester cotton stuffing in that torn blanket!". so i PCed for about 75 mins but i didnt have any foil to cover it. i didnt think it was necessary. the millet expanded a bit, but theres still a little room to shake it around (gonna be a workout tho). i now know the importance of only filling 2/3 (i may have been around the 75-80% level) oops, first try, i learned
