The Inner God, Neuroanatomy, Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel
    #4271931 - 06/08/05 03:21 PM (11 years, 4 months ago)

For those of you who have experienced your Inner God on a level 5 trip (I have, on 30 gr. of fresh Psylocybe Cyanescens after fastening for 2 days, twice, and it has been a life changing experience. I might write about that another day.) you might find this interesting.

In my opinion it's nothing but similar to the effect of "seeing" lambs on clouds...or not...as Michelangelo was known for actually dissecting corpses and his anatomy studies...in which case, if Michelangelo was actually being double meaned, maybe it might be the biggest "Goal" (in soccer terms) scored to religion in the history of Human kind.

...the Inner God depicted in the Sistine Chapel no less.

Have you ever experienced your Inner God?

Are there any records of Michelangelo experiencing entheogens or other type of psychoactive substances?

What do you think about this?

"Without having seen the Sistine Chapel one can form no appreciable
idea of what one man is capable of achieving."

- Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Rome 1787

"In the fresco traditionally called the 'Creation of Adam', but which
might be more aptly titled the 'Endowment of Adam', I believe that
Michelangelo encoded a special message."

- Frank Meshberger, An interpretation of Michelangelo's Creation of
Adam Based on Neuroanatomy (JAMA 264:1837-1841, 1990)

It would be interesting to know. I have heard that there are internal ways of attaining enlightenment though, so who knows. The way things are in todays society, psychoactives are a necessary push in the right direction. At least for myself anyway.

well, out of pure coincidence of course, Michelangelo happened to enjoy some psychoactives indeed...

...and the answer is...Syrian Rue

"It was the powerful effects of its bitter seeds that gained it esteem from Asia Minor, across to India and Northeast Tibet, as a medication and a love potion. According to one theory, Harmala was the base for the ''Drink of the Immortals'' in ancient times. Before Islam, the Harmala plant was worshipped by communities that lived along the caravan routes who associated it with the moon deity ''Asfand''."

"The Harmala alkaloids: harmine, harmaline, tetrahydroharmine. . . are found in a variety of plants, the most notorious of which is Banisteriopsis caapi, a vine native to the Amazon region which is an active ingredient of the " Ayahuasca " ,or " Yage " brews, of the Native South Americans."

"Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo both claimed that, owing to rue's metaphysical powers, their eyesight and creative inner vision had been improved. Branches of rue were used to sprinkle holy water before High Mass, and it was an important strewing herb and anti-plague plant."

so there you go, he actually actively used and enjoyed psychoactives...the Inner God in the very heart of Christianity...gosh...not to mention the "Forbidden Fruit" or the "Manna"...

"But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die" (Genesis 2:15-17)

"Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a TREE OF LIFE to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her"
(Proverbs 3:13-18).

"And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."

[Incidentally, when I said I experienced the Inner God on 30 gr. of fresh Psy. Cyans, of course I forgot to say that I also experienced the Inner Evil.]

Ego death anyone? oh well...

Fortunately we are all just a bunch of lunatics over here with not much exposure to the rest of the world, so probably nothing of what I type makes any sense...those damn pyschonauts, let them be happy with their shrooms...but ban them from eating them!

[Writing from UK, where Psilocin and Psilocybin are ALREADY illegal since just a couple of months, fresh mushrooms are classified as Class A Drugs now, same as cocaine, heroine, and they WILL begin to enforce the ban in a matter of weeks.

Class A drugs carry the most serious charges. Maximum penalties you can face are:

* Seven years imprisonment plus an unlimited fine for possession.
* Life imprisonment plus an unlimited fine for supplying or dealing.
* Life imprisonment plus an unlimited fine for possession with intent to supply.

Drugs convictions will also affect your chances of future employment, as many employers would not consider your application, and some countries will not let you in, such as America and Australia.

Yiiipeeee! ]

I'll be looking forward to visiting the Sistine Chapel next time I go to Rome, with different eyes indeed!

Talking about which, today QUIZ is:

What other famous examples of "enlightening" helped with psychoactives do you know in the History of Art?

you should look into tantric art forms and Mandalas.
sand mandalas are almost always done in an "altered" state, but not using psychoactives.
