Cakes getting wet
    #4271576 - 06/08/05 01:58 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

My cakes seem to be sinking into the perlite. They are on aluminum foil at the moment. Is this going to be a big problem?

Thanks

Prion

Like backupwards said, you dont want your pearlite to be super-saturated.

Pearlite puts moisture inthe air better if there is little or no standing water.

take some of the water out!~

sounds like you have way too much water in your perlite.

whats the best/cleanest way to remove the water. I was thinking of steralizing a turkey baster and pulling it out that way

put your cakes in something else and then just dump it back through a strainer. seems the fastest way to me. then just put your tub back together.
i think a turkey baster would get plugged up with the perlite. could be wrong though.
peace

I agree that the turkey baster will get plugged up, but, Im looking for the least invasive (contaminate) method.

When i over watered my pearlite i used a whole wad of paper towel to just soak it up. Kind of wasteful but it works.

or you could push the pealite away from a corner, and siphon it out.

If your cakes are fully colonized and healthy, contamination from removing water shouldn't matter.
