Its usually not worth the time and effort to take non dvd quality avi files and re encode and author them for dvd.

Just use virtual dub to chop the avi down to sizes that will fit on svcd and use nero to burn. Download dvd images if u want dvd movies.

Or even better, buy one of these.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/det...cs&n=507846

It plays DivX files.

Get Winavi. It's fast, easy to use, and is quite flexible.

I don't like vcd's. Either they take more than one cd or they're shitty quality. I bought that dvd player b/c I already have 200~ DivX movies burned to cd.

I agree with Redstorm. Get a stand alone divx player. I have one, it was cheap and awsome!

Which model do you have?

I've wanted one for a while since I get sick of watching movies on my laptop.

I just got my cheap $40 one today off Amazon, and it worked on the disc I tried. I can tell it's gonna be a hell of an investment.

Get a program called WinAVI. It will convert to many formats, including DVD. Its really easy to use, i've never had a problem with it. You can buy it, download a trial, or get it off a torrent site

Does that program do it the opposite way, from dvd ---> avi?

I've been looking for such a program, but haven't had much luck on a good one.

I do, but I just realized that I can fit like 6 divx movies on a dvd and then watch them on my dvd player.
