anyone have problems with perlite???
    #4267483 - 06/07/05 11:35 AM (18 years, 10 months ago)

I am going to be using a 1.5 inch layer of perlite with about .75 inches of water for humidity in my fruiting chamber. I was wondering if anyone who has used perlite for humidity has had any problems with it? Like to much or to little humidity? This is my fist grow attempt, i'm using brf pf jars and i'm using saran wrap for the fruiting chamber lid. Will the saran wrap keep the humidity in good enough? I was also wondering what you found a good temperature for the fruiting chamber is from personal experience.

put your perlite in a tray at the bottom of the chamber, so you can change it without hassle when necessary. don't worry about inches, just make sure that the perlite is always wet, and add a little h2o2 to the water you use, so it doesn't go rot and smell bad.

I wouldn't use that much water. I spray the perlite with a mist until it is damp. Too much water can become a problem.

Yes I have used this before and it does fine. The only problem is you have to still fan the cakes a few times a day. Your wrap starts to lose it's hold and you will be replacing it a lot.

this has been answered many times before.
perlite should just be soaked for a bit and then drained off before putting it in your chamber. therefore giving you more surface area for evap. i have never had probs with rh doing this method. having standing water in there is just asking for contams. 98-100% rh easy doing it this way. every now and then you need to mist somemore water back into the perlite or just pull it out between flushes and soak and drain again.
that is it, that easy.
peace

thanks for the replys. Any suggestions for temperatures, like what pins the best? I'm currently at 75-79 degrees.
