Attempting to make an incubator ...some thought please *PIC*

I have copied an idea i found on the site here and just wanted some thought if it would work.....its just a rubber/plastic container submerged in a heated water bath....i heating the water now to see how temp get inside the container....

Couple questions....

a- if it will work should i cover the container?

b- i put a couple caps of bleach in the water...should i be concerned with anything other than that being the jars are not in direct contact with the water?


thanx...update 3 days no sign of anything in my jars...yet i hope!

Erm, sorry should have been more specific, either use a blanket or towel to cover it, or leave the lid on loose or upsidedown or something. You dont really need holes, you just dont want to seal them. Fresh air exchange at this stage isnt important, just GAS exchange...which is the release of built up excess gases. Mycelium does thrive in the co2 environment that it creates though during the veg cycle, it just needs to release excess stuff.

If your gonna use clear containers for your incubator...

make sure to leave it in a dark place.

Or you get some little surprises in those jars that you don't necessarily want. I find it amazing that mushies manage to grow even in pftek jars under a bed where they prolly didnt get much light.
