Thats what I make as well about 12.50/hr Its nice only working part time and bieng self sufficent.
My girl works at a nice restraunt and brings in over $20/hr, but she works harder then I do. Serving in a restraunt is real hard work, its like construction indoors.

Yeah you can make decent money at restaurants especially if you get a group of good tipping regulars coming in.

I have the same sentiment. I was just considering whether or not I should get a job as a server until I paused to think for a bit... Would I want to give up my job where I can listen to Cds/NPR all day just to have to rush around constantly and actually interact with customers?? nahh.. I'd rather keep my position getting paid for driving around all day and reading when it's slow. What size of city do you deliver in? I've often wondered how much worse it is in a very large city (I live in a city of approx 250k).

I work in south west phoenix. Its kind of dangerous, some crack heads killed a driver for $40 a few years ago. A few of my co-workers have been held up. I work in a better part of the poor side of town, if that makes any sense. The true danger is getting killed in a car accident. But its worth it for a few bucks a stop.

I know what you mean about the robberies. I work in a relatively low-crime area, but we've still had three drivers robbed in the past year. No injuries though. I've yet to be robbed.. Hopefully it's something that I'll never have to experience. Fuck, I'd surely let them have whatever they wanted though. Heh, instead of floating the notion of all drivers having under a certain amount of $$, they should say that all drivers are armed. yes, I'm sure that would make things safer.

Keep in mind being a server in a city does NOT mean 20( or even 15)/hour just because someone else makes it. Why do you think serving has the highest turnover rate of all jobs in America. Not only will you rarely make consistent income, but the tides can turn based on things like bad weather, deaths of family members, and a million other quirky events. Add that to to a whole lotta bullshit from a while lot of people( notoriously mostly the staff instead of the customers!!) and days where the money just doesn't come because the people don't.. It's adds up to a pretty heavy scale. Some people like to tip it every now and then :0
