i know my problem is not being in a strile enviroment, i have tried only the pf tek with brf with b+ and the ecqudore, both have failed, so i ordered the www.sporeworks.com your choice 4 pack and going to try again, so i just wanted to know if the other newbies have had the same luck and when they did suceed what tek helped you the most,

The first time I tried, I succeeded. It was EQ's and half-pint BRF/verm cakes in a rubbermaid with pelite. Don't give up and follow the teks carefully

I used the Magic Mushroom Grower's Guide with half pint jars and steam sterilization, and I got my first pins today. I've had huge jar loss though, I inoculated 4 originally, 2 contammed, and 1 is still colonizing, but its taking over a month, and the fourth is in the terrarium. I inoculated 5 or so other jars, 3 got contams, one isn't growing anything, and the fifth is doing great. I used PFClassic ordered from Ralphsters. I'm looking very forward to my first ever flush coming up soon (knock on wood).
I'm trying to improve my success rate though, I got a pressure cooker and I'm building a flowhood. So hopefully I'll have good things to come.

I hardly ever lose a single jar using the method above. Be paranoid about sterility, follow ALL sterility guidelines and you wont get any contams either.

I started with the PF-tek...used that for several months.
moved on to myco-tek's Rye Grain tek.
then started experimenting around...and started making my own teks.

i used grain based mycobags first. but quickly switched over to the pf tek. the myco bags work good but ild suggest taking them out after colonization or cutting the bag down significantly to increase air flow and put the colonized sub in a fruting chamber with perlite or hydroton. pretty easy to colonize mycobags though. and once colonized contams arent that much of an issue. the yield was like 2oz's per bag after 3 flushes.

my first time around was with the pf tek, didn't know what it was at the time. a friend got the directions for me online and i just went at it. was fairly successful for not having much info. that was almost 2 years ago and 2 months ago i found this site. didn't get any contams, just pc'd jars very well and used a very clean work area and made sure to flame the needle very well before innoculating each jar. 6 cakes gave me 3/4 oz first flush and a little less each time through 3 flushes, then started over. wish i would have had info from here back then. read read read everything you can, believe me it helps. yes people, almost 2 years of the pf tek, when it could have been so much better. gotta give thanks to all these folks here for the wealth of knowledge they willingly pass on. peace

Mr. Owl followed the PF Tek to a tee using GT... even the "tamping down tek" (which he later found out was a no no)... got only a few fruits but were fairly large.

I used BRF PF cakes that I'm spawning in pasteurized horse poo. The only jars I lost to contamination (6 out of 24) were due to contaminated spore syringes which were replaced without hassle by the supplier (Spores Direct). I use Roadkill's poo tek. When I put my first-ever processed cake of PR in the food processor, I couldn't help but feel a little scared for the myc I'd reared from spores so carefully. However, my fears were allayed and my heart delighted when two days later I peeked at the pan and saw the myc had gone WILD in the poo, growing in two days more than in the previous two weeks in the jar. The whole big bread pan of poo was fully colonized in less than week. I cased it last night with coco/vermiculite and tonight the myc was already peeking through the casing here and there. Now, the pan is in the fridge overnight before I'll place is in a perlite-bottomed, clear Sterlite container tomorrow. So far so good. Wish me luck on pinning and fruiting.

I used the PF Tek first. It worked well but I was disappointed with the results so I moved on to WBS. I suggest you start with any of the WBS teks and go from there, it's just as easy as the PF Tek as long as you have a PC. I got my PC at Wally world for $18. Good Luck.
