Been drying out some mushies over the last week and are now fully dry, I now want to grind them up and store them for future use. I have searched and read everything that came up but I just wanna be sure on a few things.
Firstly, I plan to grind them up to a fine powder, then put into plastic ziplock bag/s, then place the ziplock bag/s inside a glass jar. I've read that it's a good idea to put some silica gel inside the bag but how would I do this without contaminating the mushrooms? And would it be ok to just put some silica gel inside the jar instead? Would this still be efficient?
Put some silica gel in a shot glass or cough syrup cup thing, so that it doesn't touch any of the mushrooms.
Another thing you can do is get tea bags, and put silica gel in the tea bags. Some guy on here said he did that, and it worked fine.
I don't think you should grind them up before putting them in baggies, just making it easier for oxygen/air to decay the powder, because there's more surface area to be reached, and it's easier for air to get into finely ground powder.
It's best to leave in shroom form. That, or you can get some pill-making kits from GNC or other drug stores, and powder the shrooms, and put them into capsules. If you jam pack them, there's virtually no potency loss over time, and they're easy to contain/transport since they're so small.
