mycelum overgrowth, or mummy mold?(plenty of pics)
    #4266144 - 06/07/05 01:27 AM (12 years, 2 months ago)

here are some pics of the cubensis i've just started growing. The overgrowth of mycelium, dwarfed caps, and curved stems lead me to suspect that I might have mummy mold. Since i've never seen any pics of mushrooms infected with this mold, I can only asses the situation with the contamination info on this site (which is the most comprehensive i've found so far). Anyone know enough about this subject to calm my paranoia?

Those look great. I wouldn't worry at all.

Overgrowth of mycelium is VERY common on cakes. Curved stems are just curving toward the lite. The caps look pretty normal too, they will get bigger and more to scale as the fruits grow.

Don't worry. In the future, (and after this flush) a dunk and roll would give you a little bigger fruits. (if you didn't already dunk)

Either way: GREAT JOB

what is your rh and temp? mushroommark mentions the light situation, because of the clear tub light floods the chamber from all directions causing this phenomenon. my suggestion there is to cover the bottom 6 to 8 inches with black plastic or something of no reflective value. this will help to make the babies stretch upwards.
Definitely take the advice of the dunk and roll. after your first flush is harvested, dunk them for 12 to 24 hours and then roll in damp verm, this will definitely help out the flushes, need to with the brf cakes.
if you are looking for much better flushes check out some casing methods. just as easy imo.
peace

thanks for the advice. im a bit of a hypochondriac when it comes to my kit, and that definitely calmed my nerves. My rh is probably around 95% (This is guess work as i dont have a gauge) and my temp is about 80-85 degrees. I'll try covering the bottom portion of my kit and see if that helps the curving problem. Thanks again

Looking good so far. Keep an eye on them though mold likes to hop in.

i do believe you need to get that temp down to mid to low 70's, but it still looks like you are getting decent pinning, but maybe better if you can get the temp down.
peace
