Casing Ingredients...

Just wanted to see if this sounds about right.
Everything was measured DRY
It was some ratio that Agar gave me...damnit I can't remeber it correctly...Hopefully he'll remeber lol...damn anyways
Turned out to be three quarts total, I added 1 teaspoon of calcium carbonate per quart.
Peat - ? Verm.- ? CC - 3 teaspoons
It was your normal mix Agar, but I am worried about the mix being to base or to acidic...I can start over, but i'd rather not lol.
Only ph strips that I have are pool strips and i dont think those would work lol
Thankx

This also works great. 4 parts peat 1/4 part verm 1 part calcium carbonate 2- 2 1/4 parts water This way in "parts", gives you the flexibility to measure for large or small casings. Soak your verm in water before adding it to the mixture. One way to let you know the moisture content is optimal (TMC) is to: Remove 10-20% of the volume of the dry mix and then saturate the remaining 80-90%. The add the remaining dry material. bluhoney

What does Calcium Carbonate do? I'm glad this question was asked because I'm just about to go out and buy supplies for my casing.
Where does one buy peat and carbonate?
Edit: ...wow I must have been tripping when I wrote this... edited for coherence.

Acually...I tried it...Hahaha
Didn't work out to well...Said it was really acidic (PH of like 4 lol)
But i really don't know if it was correct or not.
I def. used more Verm. than Peat.
I will re-do it just to be on the safe side
Thankx everyone!
Oh and Calcium Carbonate can also be made from egg-shells...Made my own

Made an old thread about it...
Wash them gently under very warm-hot water...
Get as much of the embrotic(sp) tissue off as you can.
Then rub with a little bit of alcohol...Then rinse..
Then nuke in microwave for about 7-8 mintues...
Then Crush...I used a grinder

I'll bump it up......why not..
