Backyard Find Possible ID
    #4264140 - 06/06/05 02:48 PM (18 years, 8 months ago)

We had some rain the other day and there were a bunch of mushrooms that popped up in the back yard. I am obviously a noob judging by this being my first post. Im interested in getting into the hobby and figured Id need to start somewhere. So....

a. This was growing in a flower bed with topsoil and woodchips
b. Brown Gills, attached
c. cap 1.5 in to 2 in stem about 3in
d. white/brown stem, hollow, .25in thick
e. Brown Cap, leathery texture
f. I think its a white spore print
Looking for a possible ID

This is another group I found which are signifiantly smaller. About .25 in caps .5 in stems, white gills, more conical shaped cap. Are these the same thing just not matured?

Here is yet another cluster these seem to be different due to the concave caps. The caps appreared a redish color when they were really small, similar to the ones in the lower righthand corner.

Looks like Agrocybe dura should have a brown spore print, it's a pretty common mushroom on wood chips in the spring. It is a confusing mushroom to identify,
because it can have a lot of different colors depending on the weather.
