yielding low

My friend had some cambodians he used 16 half pint jars. This was done in a aquarium with a hygrometer and humidity was at 95% using perlite. He fanned manually. I did not see his setup but he got no more then a half ounce. I saw his dry product however and the mushrooms where no larger then 2in with open caps. What happened he had no contams. Was it a lack of nutrient in the substrate or could have it been lack of air? His temps were at a steady 75F although he never cold shocked. What caused this he is very discouraged if someone could help me remedy this sitituation I would be greatly appreciative.

Yes, it might have been lack of fresh air. Crumble and case those bad boys, you'll get results.

if you are using perlite i'd DEFINITELY suggest sitting the cakes directly on it, rather than on jar lids.

i had my cakes on small squares of perspex and got small first flushes, with some cakes refusing to pin. after the first flush i sat them directly on the perlite and and they all started pinning quickly, some of them are going absolutely crazy with big pins. from now on i'll always put them straight on the perlite.
