I've had awesome times shrooming to The Flaming Lips and Radiohead, personally. Also, Pavement.

my first trip was a couple of weeks ago, i listened to this old 60's Band called The Lost, it was uplifting, made me think i was living in the 70's and it helped my mood stay positive and progressed the ego-loss.

Check out Godspeed You Black Emperor. Songs on average are 15 minutes long, absolutely amazing to listen to with your eyes closed and the volume up high, each song goes through at least 2 or 3 phases of slowly building up to a climax then coming down again.
And when I saw them perform here they put on the most mindblowingly awesome concert I've ever seen.

I like to listen to some String Cheese Incident when I want something feel-good. When I'm in the mood for a funky beat, I always go with Del the Funky Homosapien, usually Deltron 3030(check it out). When I want to trip out deep, I like some trance, Infected Mushroom is good, but I like to listen to the trance channels on iTunes radio. There's always a different DJ spinning something new, and new is good. Also in no particular order: Yonder Mountain String Band Garcia-Grisman John Coltrane - A Love Supreme (Incredible) Aphex Twin Doobie Brothers

If your into the beat of music and some awesome sound effects, listen to midwest product. THey are an experimental electronica band with some awesome stuff.. And then a band called ratatat which is five guys on guitars and one on a synth... they just rock out the jams with no lyrics. THe beats from both really help with the visuals... the room will move with the beats nicely... i really recommend them.,

The live Pink Floyd performances from 1970-1974 are AMAZING, if you can find recordings of them. They get traded on casette tapes and CDs, but you can find them among ROIO tradecircles or on bittorrent sites now if you look hard enough.
Personal favorites include: * 4-29-1970 (live at Fillmore West, San Francisco, CA) "Interstellar Encore". * 9-26-1970 (live at Philadelphia, PA) "Electric Factory". * 11-21-1970 (live at Montreaux, Switzerland) "Smoking Blues". * 11-16-1974 (live at London, England, UK).
These live shows alone are a psychedelic experience in and of themselves. Listen to them while tripping, too... it's beyond words.
Other good choices for such experiences include: Pink Floyd, Shpongle, The Orb, Tangerine Dream, Aphex Twin, Phish, Grateful Dead, and J.S. Bach.
Explosions in the Sky is also good, but they can be difficult to listen to. Some people, including myself, find their music to be emotionally overpowering at times. Same goes for Mogwai.

Rock/Pop: Pink Floyd, Sublime, Tool, Phish, Opeth(I just love them too much), Led Zeppelin(and these are just off the top of my head).
And I love any classical such as Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Brahms, Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Scriabin, Scarlatti, Debussy (sorry theres just way too many).
