Panaeolus cyanescens - Hawaii
    #4260937 - 06/05/05 08:40 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

Panaeolus cyanescens - Hawaii

Moderately aggressive strain, fair pin set with fairly large mushrooms (1 inch caps). Pins are brown fading to a pale tan when mature. Good spore production. Some malformed fruits noted. The younger caps have a distinctive bell shape (not pictured) that sets it apart from other strains. Flesh blues intensely when cut or bruised. Substrate is sterilized horse manure with a peat/calcium carbonate casing.

This is yet another 4 spored specimen. Still looking for that elusive 2-spored strain/species of active Panaeolus (Copelandia).

Excellent work as usual Workman.

So far, and I haven't check out everything from my collection, I'd have to say the Thailand or the Jamaican. Both fruited well over a long period of time, had few aborts, few malformed mushrooms and printed easily.

Thanks Workman,
I've noticed one strain I worked with produced many irregular mushrooms. They grew strongly and spored heavily but many mutants.

You have Peaked my interest. Beuatiful! What is the elusive 2-spored strain/species  LOL... How easy is it to get a print from the cyanescens?

How much vertical space do I plan for the australian cyanescen? Or cyanescens in general. I plan on seeking that elusive 2-spored strain myself - LOL. And, while I'm at it. What can you tell me about the panalous species in general?

Any hard tak... ie tek out there?
