AFOAF got big green molds when she last tried for the first time to make one. She used the scrape the spores onto a clean shotglass and mix with boiled sterile cool water into a syringe which was twice rinsed with boiling hot water and filled and left to cool, and , true, months passed before they were used.. BUT ANYWAY, AFOAF"S question is, with a great, dark, dusty, polleny print, and with a microwave handy, what''s the best way to make a kick-ass homemade syringe? The serilize a yougurt container thing or what? peace

Firstly you need a clean print. Secondly, a glovebox is invaluable.

What I do - and i got this from Auto59009 - is allow near-zero air exchange with the spores.
Firstly, i get a jar with a hole in its lid (with tape over this) and i pressure cook this empty then let it cool...
Secondly, i get a mug covered with cling wrap and filled with water which i boil in a microwave for as long as possible without it exploding - five/seven minutes if your lucky...
Then, while hot, i stick the syringe needle quickly into the mug though the cling wrap, suck up some water, withdraw and recap...
Then, when the syringe of water has cooled, the fun begins...
Pop on some sterile gloves and wipe them with an alcohol swab - also try to cover your face so you dont breath on the stuff ... Over a hot oven to push away contams, and as quickly as possible, open up your babyjar and lean the print inside and rub it together as quickly as possible to wipoe spore into the jar, but allow as little air inside as possible, before re-sealing...Sometimes, i just chuck the whole print in and hope that both sides of it are sterile....the refasten lid...
Then, again over the oven, stick your syringe through the tape of the babyjarlid, squirt out the water and then after gving it ashake, suck the water and spore back up into the syringe. Then wipe with an alcohol swab, recap and you are laughing...
The are usually a few other precautions i ma\ke to be sure, and i have not had one contam since i started doing it this way...
Im pretty sure that contams often come from unsterile needle points and air exchange...cheers
