Here in SC it has been raining like a mofo for the past week.. i went for a walk today and found some shrooms, I know nothing about identifying them, but i took a sample and figure i'd post pics to see if anyone could help me identify them. It could be nothing, but if it isn't i am going to pick all of them and let em dry out for a few weeks and eat em. I think the one on the left is a young version of the one on the right.. i found them both in the same shroom patch. I am in central south carolina right now if that helps with identification.. thanks

They're Agaricus, but I wouldn't commit on species without more information.
What color do they bruise? Cut one in half vertically, then scrape the entire inside with your knife edge hard enough to bruise the tissue and watch for color changes. The color changes can take up to an hour and may be different in different places.
What do they smell like? The odor is usually strongest where the stem and cap join or at the base of the stem. If you can't detect any odor other than earth try crushing the stem base with your fingers and sniffing some more.
Happy mushrooming!

I am beginning to despise those little fuckers.... they are EVERYWHERE on my horse pasture. They kept throwing up so many false alarms for me when i would see a clump of 25 of them at a time.

Yeah, I looked at 'em a bit too. They do resemble cubes.

Yeah, they do resemble cubes on the mature one. To print separate the cap from the stem and lay gills down on a piece of paper till you see a bold print. BTW Im in sumter

OK, I jumped the gun on genus, even. A closer look at the gills shows them as fairly purplish, which suggests Stropharia.
Cut one in half and verify whether the gills are attached to the stem or not.
Happy mushrooming!
