airbag question (anyone a collision tech?)
    #4255840 - 06/04/05 02:21 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

wow, no answer on automotive forums, maybe wrong forum, i dont know.

anyways i got these really trippy seat covers. i went to put them on, knowing i have side impact air bags.. but come to realise when i was putting them on, i think i have airbags IN my seats also. on the seat cover box it says putting them on seats with airbags can cause injury.

anyone know whats gonna happen with them on if those airbags deploy? as far as i see it, those airbags just wont deploy, which isnt a big concern with me. i'm just making sure they arent talking about anything serious like i'm gonna spontaneaously combust if they deploy or anything

i havent put them on yet cause i want to make sure before i cut them around the seat handles and stuff.

i'm discovering my car is like a bubble. whatever happened to one simple airbag in the steering wheel like my last car

What kind of car do you have? Check and see if it has in-seat airbags. I'v never heard of it, but your user/car manual should say. Post your car type here and I can check.

In seat air bags? Crazy... they wouldnt deploy behind your back would they?

I would find the spot where they deploy and cut the seat covers there so it covers, but will not restrict the air bag.

its a 2003 VW golf.

all i know is i have 'passive restraints' and side impact, whatever that means...

there is a airbag logo on the seat itself on the side which i never realised was there. i only knew about the ones on the center frame (the side impact ones)

upon inspection, there seams to be airbags in my dash that blow up in front of the whole windshield, side impact, back ones on each side of the back seat, and these front seat ones i guess... hence why i said a bubble car :grin:there are airbags near every window and i could see the whole thing inflating if i rolled my car down the face of a cliff :eek:not that i plan on it. i just never realised how safe of a car i have.
