The Ink Cap(Coprinus spp)

ok so i posted some finds from a hunt about a week ago, and they were id'd as the ink cap or Coprinus spp... Then i just read in a post that they are active?!?! Can some one please conferm this.. im posting a pic of what it is. When the cap is touched or smashed they turn the same color as a cube and even smell like them... So im hoping they are active

Where did you read that post?

No coprinus species are active. some are toxic when mixed with alcohol.

Sometimes people use the term "cope" to refer to copelandia species, maybe that could have caused some confusion?
