Outdoor Questions for P. Cubensis
    #4251593 - 06/03/05 10:18 AM (11 years, 6 months ago)

I was checking out Moe's Outdoor Tek. He says to use hay or straw... being that i live in an urban city, i have no idea where to get either of those things. I was wondering could dried leaves work? Maybe pine needles? Any other organic material that i can find in a park or backyard?
Also, I don't have a backyard. I might be able to use a grassy area by some traintracks a block from my house. I was wondering if i could use some sort of medium-sized plastic container in my balcony with the layers of soil, manure, grain, and straw. I was also thinking of putting about 8 inches of soil and plant bermuda grass to form a natural terrarium.
Any tips or just good logic will be of great help

whatcha talking about Willis!~

sorry...couldn't resist!~

You can't use dried leaves, pine needles or other organic material that you find in a park or backyard.

You will have to use horse poo, wheat straw, or cow manure and straw, or compost...that you will spawn with some colonized grain.

please do some reading.

Try wal-mart for straw. Leaves likely dont have enough nutrients to accomplish what you are looking for.

a flower pot of the substrates that I already listed for you would work.

but not soil and grasses.

Roadkill

So, like regular organic compost that you get at any gardening store will work?
