Niffty Poo Pasteurizer.

Well, after two sessions of poo pasteurizing with a pillow case, I really had to come up with something a little less messy. Had my big pot,
so I had no problem hydrating a good amount at a time. Just fill up my pot,
fill with warm water. Break it up with my hands. Add some vermiculite and mix it up.
This is usually when the mess would start. Getting it into a pillow case, back in the pot, and back on the stove. I started thinking of what I could do or use to make this easier. That's when I stumbled upon this while browsing thru Wally World,
stainless steel wastepaper basket,$7.44.
Now, after my poo is hydrated, set this in the sink and pour my poo into it.
Fill pot back up, set poo back in, and get up to temp.
What I really like about this is I can stir while heating to get the poo a constant temp.
When done, remove from pot , set in sink and let drain. Drains real quick.
Looks like it might work for WBS also, its a fine mesh, but thick, basket. Gonna load it up with WBS, set in a soak, rinse, simmer, and drain hopefully with never leaving the basket.
Hope others find this as helpful an accessory as I have.

I searched and searched the forums to find the price of that basket, and it brought me back to this post.

Thank you for sharing this. I just pasteurized my first batch of h poo, and I used a pasta pot (one with a basket that nests inside a larger part) with the poo in a pillow case. The pasta basket is also easy to remove over the sink, and the large holes permit rapid draining. However, being able to stir the poo while it's cooking is a great advantage, and it feels psychologically somehow more comfortable than putting poo in a pillow case. You're a valuable teacher, Hippie Chick. Thank you for generously sharing your creativity and widsom.

a suitable alternative to a pillowcase can be a reynolds oven bag.
was curious about something, HC-
never really used a pillowcase before, but when using the ovenbags, the h2o content is brought to optimum before being bagged and pasturized. did you run ito any water content problems?
i can't help but wonder if letting it cool and drain in open air (sink) is going to affect it?
what are your thoughts?

Didn't run into any water content problems. Let it drain till content was right to the squeeze test.
Wasn't worrying about letting it dry in the open air in the sink because after I set it in the sink, I washed the pot and set it on top of the basket, while it was draining.

nice sisi!~
I might have to get me one of those.
I get tired of burning holes in my pillow cases.
and the horse poo stains the pillow cases so bad...that the old lady gets mad when I use the good ones.
