To get a better yield.
    #4247818 - 06/02/05 02:02 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

I think my 2nd flush with my b+ strain is totally exhausted. Why do I say that?
I dunked this cake for around 24 hours and all I get is a single cap!  :frown:
Is there anyway to increase the yield not just by dunking but by any other way?
Here's a picture of proof.

Also as well, I have just cultivated a "Burma" strain from sporeworks.com,
and the veils have been torn, and after a few hours, the terranium ground
was dark with spores! I'm thinking about keeping these but I'm probably to late.

Anyways, let me know what you think.

Yep! Double end casing for starters. This is a great technique for not having to dunk.

The shrooms don't go bad just because they dropped spores, keep em and eat em.

The best way to get better flushes it to move on to grains and case or spawn the grains to something else, such as poo/straw or one of the two. Have fun.

From what I read from other posts, all I have to do is cover the cake with vermiculate and spray some water on it, right?

Go ahead and harvest the mushrooms on the cake. You'll want to make sure that all of the mushroom tissue is cleaned off of them well to maintain a healthy cake. Next, get that thing off of the perlite. Fill a lid with the inoculation holes in it with vermiculite and saturate it with H20. Then set the cake lightly onto the lid, dead center. That will leave about an 3/8 of an inch of vermiculite exposed from the lid around the cake. Then mist the cake and sprinkle some dry vermiculite on top. About an 1/8 of an inch thick is all ya need. Then mist it well. After you've done that, don't mist the cake anymore. Just the sides of the tub after a fanning. If you want to use the straws that are inserted into the cakes for H20 resevoirs, simply take a straw and cut it in half at an angle. The angled cut makes it easier to insert the straw into the cake. Then simply fill the straw with H20. Use a clear straw so you can see when to replenish the H20. If you don't use the straw tek, a dunk for 12 hours in H20 will work also.
