Celebrating Weight Loss...?
    #4247015 - 06/02/05 06:47 AM (11 years, 11 months ago)

Should we applaud others for abusing themselves and then stopping the abuse? This could apply to any self-destructive or negative behavior.

"Woo hoo! Everyone gather around, I used to torture small animals and then I stopped! Aren't I wonderful?"

"Before, I ate every friggen thing in sight whether I was stuffed or not - it didn't matter. Now, look at me! I actually listen to me body, use my intelligence and only eat what I need. What a major accomplishment!"

"I no longer set houses on fire. When is my award ceremony?"

Is non-neurotic behavior worthy of high praise?

"Hey look, Oprah lost weight and ran a marathon. Oops! She piled the blubber back on. No, wait - check her out now. See how slender she is. Ah, her relationship went south and she pegs the ton-o-meter."

Yes folks, let's celebrate every little weight fluctuation, every swing from wackiness to normalcy and back.

How else are we supposed to make money off of people's eating habits if we don't make a big deal out of when the do "good" and "bad".... er, I mean how else are we supposed to show people that we care about them?

Yes it is ,since neurosis seems to be the "common behaviour". We should also make awards and celebrate for people that start displaying signs of inteligence higher than a monkey!

Losing a lot of weight is pretty good accomplishment. People slip in life and if you get very overweight, a lot of people just "accept" who they are and don't even try to change, but there are those who make an effort to undo past mistakes by eating right and exercising.

Ive seen a very obese women in the gym for the past 2 months. She is VERY obese but damnit she goes on that rowing machine for long periods of time. You can tell she is making an effort to reverse her situation and for that she should be commended, but we'll see in the end if she can follow through.

Many peoples problems start with the fact that they look to others for approval or disapproval.

Probably everyone at one time or another has wanted to be noticed for something like this. But is it healthy? I doubt it.

The ultimate is to take your life as a challenge, looking to yourself and not others. Praise from others is nice but unimportant.  :mushroom2:

You are not good enough and that is making you unhappy. Pay me a lot of money and I will make you feel better about yourself. Oh, do you want to triple size that order of grease?

Party time! :jammingout: :doggystyle:

I like to celebrate my weight loss with a trip to the all-you-can-eat Billagio buffet because I "deserve" it.
