worm castings instead of h/poo?

Can worm castings be used instead of h/poo? would all of the pasterization and spawning and casing steps be the same? Will it provide the same results?

In a word: No.

H/poo will outperform castings.

Check out this thread, in which I've done a number of castings and h/poo grows with many of the same variables.

I will NOT be using castings ever again.

However, much of the procedure is identical. However, be sure to mix castings with half verm or you will end up with MUD.

Same here. Horse poo blows away castings. Though it was fun to experiment with.

I had two casings each spawned 1 Qt of Tapalpa to castings/verm.
They died.

I've had very bad luck with castings too. The mycelium just doesn't tear into them and they produce small fruits. Castings are expensive too.

Castings do have their positives, but h/poo just has too many good aspects not to use. Poo is easy to prep once you try it a few times, but the first time it can be a little intimidating.
