Where does religion end?
    #4245881 - 06/01/05 10:37 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

Does it have an end? I currently believe that software development and music as well as art and child rearing are all important aspects of my personal religious discipline. My religion has many rituals. I take a shit, a bath, I eat, I breathe, I laugh, I brush my teeth, I sleep, I awaken, I dress myself to go out, I get pissed off, I am happy, sometimes I get sad, and then it goes away. My religion involves working with sacred relics such as food, water, air, sunshine, and the Earth under my feet. All religions need a messiah so I am my own messiah. A god is appropriate to religion so I serve as the God of my world. If God permeates everything then I must be God. So, if this is my religion....what is left?

A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

I'm not quite sure what you're asking.

Your religion sounds fairly complete, and could have no end for you.

Your religion and someone elses could be very different, so yours would end where theirs begins.

Am I following you at all?

Well, maybe your religion is just an eternal cycle, like God is supposed to be. Maybe it doesn't end.

I suspect that...

Who said religion had an end?

Religion (in its simplest) is just living your life with a set pattern.

If you get up at the same time, everyday...it is something you do religiously

My point is that I believe that religion is not a once a week and on holidays thing. One's spiritual integration is total. There is no separation for physical, spiritual and mental for me. Every experience is a spiritual experience. If I scratch my ass or give thanks for food they are equal in nature. One's physical desires and needs are just another dimension to spiritual experience just as meditation or morality are.

Religion in which people practice ends with the observer/believer. Past that it fails to be anything at all, but a past "relic" of ones thoughts and "beliefs".

To me, religion is just a method to learning. Learning never ends.
