mutants?
    #4245763 - 06/01/05 10:04 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

this casing has been quite weird, in the first pic theres a mushroom which grew really short and fat, its about 1.5" long. does that look like a mutant to you guys? in the second pic however, wtf are those things, theyre balls of..pin i guess, theyve been there for almost a week and are slowly getting bigger, just fatter and fatter, no signs of forming a head. mutants for sure? it woudl be awesome if they were super potent little balls of condenced alkaloids. if only one could be so lucky. also in that pic notice the green thing above the coin. its some unusual growth, i posted a different pic on it in the contam forum. wtf is that. should i cut it out?

You are so lucky, those are potent little balls :crazy2:
Um, yeah, cut that green out. Gouge it out of the sub and put a little salt in the hole.
And sterilize that quarter before you put it on your casing

Personally, I would give the "green thing" a little more time and then judge...perhaps it is just hard to tell from the pic.  I would, however, avoid placing coins on my casing or cakes...they contain bacteria from prior owners that I would imagine are harmful and present their own dangers to your grow.  Hope this helped.

hehe i knew i was going to get some comments about the coin. thats why i wiped it down well with alcohol before putting it in the casing.

so LouiseLouise, do you think it would be worth trying to isolate those little balls on agar? that would be nuts to get a casing full of little balls.

I ended up with a bunch of lumpies on BRF cakes like Southpark... they don't grow, but after nibbling on a couple, I didn't mind. they're nicely potent
