hey there, I have some really fat almost egg shaped shrooms. When I picked them they were tough as hell to remove. I really had to work at it. one brought along two small ones with it. there are some shroom debris still in the cake. should I try and remove it? or will I damage the cake? but I dont want those peices to rot and ruin the cake as well???

Try to grasp the base of the mushy with very clean hands (or use surgical gloves that you have sterized like I do) and twist it out. If it does break off like this one did, you will want to try and get the rest out or it is another invitation to rotting and contaminants. If you cannot get it all out, cover what is left with casing uncolonized casing material, moisten with sterile water or spring water mixed with a little bit of Hydrogen Peroxide and keep your fingers crossed.
