The beatles recomendations?
    #4245321 - 06/01/05 07:56 PM (12 years, 27 days ago)

Since I only like 2 of their songs and haven't heard a lot of their work, help me like them better by posting your favourite Beatles songs. I'll get 'em and listen carefully. But I need some recommendations to begin with

Just in case, my favourite artists are Hendrix and Pink Floyd, if that helps

Thanks my friends!  :mushroom2: :mushroom2:

Anything off of Revolver, Sgt. Peppers, The White Album, Magical Mystery Tour, Rubber Soul and Abbey Road.

I'd reccommend Tomorrow Never Knows as a song to check out has a Pink Floyd tripiness to it.

If you're into Hendrix and Floyd you'd like the Beatles' later stuff better, which has a more psychadelic appeal. Check out the Magical Mystery Tour album.

Although I suppose you want the most psychedelic stuff, so outta that list it would be:

Tomorrow Never Knows
Strawberry Fields Forever
Rain
I'm Only Sleeping

Of course, for pure weirdness go for I am the Walrus

Octopus's Garden is great.

I also love:

The Fool on the Hill.
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
Eleanor Rigby.
A Day in the Life.
Hey Jude.

(I'm trying to think of some that haven't already been said)

My favourite albums are Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Magical Mystery Tour. I think these are both great to trip to.

Other songs I like a lot from the top of my head is Across The Universe and Let It Be.

Wow, too much info  But from those there are a few that I already like, so I guess it's coming in the right direction! (strawberry fields, come together, Hey jude, and while my guitar gently weeps) All the others I like are covers played by hendrix

Thanks a lot guys! I'll get 'em ASAP

I used to have the vinyl of their greatest hits.  I can't remember what year it was, but it was the blue one where they are all on the balcony of the building looking down.

That one.

I think the beatles really had it totally understood, for a while. Its tragically beautiful, in that a clarity like that can be destroyed, and the people who house it are mortal.

My favorite songs? Depends on the mood and purpose, but for yours as I percieve it... I think some of the songs on Abbey Road where the vocals are harmonic would work, and some of the more edgy distorted trippy stuff..

And your bird Can sing
Maxwell's Silver Hammer
Octopus' Garden
Because
Sun King
Mean Mr. Mustard
aw, fuck, just get Abbey Road, I suggest on vinyl. You owe it to yourself. Everyone does.
The Fool on the hill
Blue Jay Way
I am The Walrus
Baby, you're a rich man (I've spent a lot of time and substances thinking of this one)
Taxman
Doctor Robert
Got to get You into my life
Tomorrow Never Knows
Being for the Benefit of Mr.Kite
Within You Without you
Good Morning Good Morning

oh man, I'm looking through these tracklists and making myself sick not picking all of them, and I just got to the White Album now :s

Across The Universe (eerie, if you dont get many, get this one)
Glass Onion
Wild Honey Pie
Rocky Raccoon
Happiness is a Warm Gun
The COntinuing Story of Bungalow Bill
Yer Blues
Helter Skelter
Sexy Sadie
Revolution 9 (you wont get this one straight, I never do.. I suggest lots of pot and a little shrooms)
Strawberry Fields Forever

Seriously, listen to these songs. Fuck man, I could write for a long time about each of these, but find your own experiences friend and maybe we'll share sometime.
 :sun: :mushroom2:   :bananamusic: :hippie: :flowerchild: :dancing:

edit: couple typos

Life's too short, man.. Life's too short. Dont hate me, and I wont put space between us. Dont lie to me, and I wont dislike you. Keep an open mind, and I'll love you.

My advice of the week(do this, you'll like it): listen to Mahogany Rush.

also yellow submarine!

basically, anything the beatles made after they started taking drugs was golden. i personally can't stand the beatles pre-Rubber Soul, but everything after that album is just amazing!
