Mix or Not Mix (Casing BRF and Rye Jars)
    #4244848 - 06/01/05 05:57 PM (12 years, 24 days ago)

I have three 1/2 pint jars...two are BRF and one is rye.  I have read conflicting advise...some say not to mix because it won't grow together, but other things I have read dispute this.  I am just confused as to why the two would not mix (if this indeed the case) when people crumble and case jars of the same substrate they mix...why would this not work?

Any advise is appreciated.

Hey-

I heard the same mixed advice. So I mixed some BRF with some WBS in a casing. It is an ongoing project but it looks very promising. The two grew together nicely and if you ask me later this week I will tell you how the fruits are

Here they are just put in:

And then two days later they seem to have grown on each other:

So I think it works.. how well.. I can't tell you that for another few days.

Good luck.. keep us updated.

I'm going to go ahead and do it because I'd rather have a larger casing than two smaller ones.  Will report back to this thread as well with pics and results.
