Casings tend to have higher yields due to the fact that there is more surface area and more water and more light and MORE SHROOMS!!!!!!! n e ways case with straight verm if it's your first time. about 1-2 in wet verm on bottom of container . . . 1 in crumbled cakes . . . then 1-2 in top layer wet verm. depending on how deep you make the top layer will detirmine how long it will take to colonize.

I can attest to casing kicking some ass. The fruit you get are just picture perfect, and so HUGE. My pet monkey has seen several 9+ inch equadors grown on two cake verm casings that would have made a cake fall over long before it got that big.

Start out with a smaller 2 cake casing with straight verm on top (check grow/find, casing). It takes another 2 weeks or so, but well worth it, especially to show off to friends when you walk in with a 9" dried shroom

Should I use peat with lime or oyster shells on the top layer instead of one of the verm layer? Does this give better yields? Is there a greater liklihood of contam?
