    #4244297 - 06/01/05 03:28 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

Does anybody know what all is involved because i dont know anything about hepititus c except it will kill you pretty quick
I know its bye bye to the beer and you need to do a major diet change
Ive heard they use interferon on you also which im not going to do
If anybody has had hepititus c  or currently is undergoing treatment let me know what you are doing about it...this kinda sucks pretty badly

It will not kill you pretty quick unless your lifestyle sucks.

I know a lot about Hep C. The Life Extension Foundation has a book on Disease prevention with a protocol that I believe will control Hep C. Check out lef.org. If you join you get the book free I believe.

For now I would take 200 mcg of selenium. Milk thistle, Alpha Lipoic Acid. I have friends who have had it for many years and are healthy.

Stay away from lifestyle choices that are harmful to the liver. Alcohol is a big one.

I thought hepatitis C was seen mostly from intravenous drug users? I know it's possible to spread it sexually and in other forms, but it's not probable that if you bang a chick with hepatitis C you'll get it. A study found that only 1.5% of people with partners have hepatitis C have it themselves. It's also a possibility that if you received a blood transplant before 1992, you became infected from that.

Just out of curiousity, have you ever been an IV drug user?

As said, you should give up all alcohol. Alcohol will make the damage to your liver progress much quicker. The sustained cure rates for hepatitis C range from 50% to 75%, and seeing as millions of people have it you're not alone. I don't know enough about hepatitis C to fully inform you on your future, but I'd recommend go looking it up or finding a few books on it. You may be fine and live a long, healthy life though if you're careful with your body, such as by staying away from actions or substances that could harm your liver even worse.

Ravis is right, getting it from sex is unlikely. Needles is the number one way. Blood to blood.

You can PM me if you don't get the help you want from your thread. :mushroom2:

Ive been reading some of the websites and anal is about the only way you can get it from sex so i know i didnt get it that way.
My brother has had it for probably 15 yrs now and has it pretty much under control without using the interferon kemotherapy crap.
Im seeing him tomorrow and hes gonna tell me basically what he has been doing these years to keep his liver enzymes low.
I really dont know when or how i got it but it could have been way back in the early `70s, I did some heroine a few times back then but who knows.
somebody get me one them beers from the cooler :smirk:

Thanks Ellemy ive read a bunch of neat stuff and the mushroom cordyceps are really good at fighting the virus
They raise the oxygen level in your cells somehow and they are pretty much at the top as far as supplement therapy goes

Sorry to hear that Paw, but, as mentioned before it is managable and not necessarily a death sentence. That's a rough break, but with medication and some lifestyle changes, you can still live a relatively normal life....

back in the 70's? so you've had it 30+ years? i thought it was one of those things where if you caught it before 6-12 months you'd be pretty safe, evidentally you've done fine with it all this time?

this is not an intended asshole remark - but if you've had it for 25+ years, shouldn't you be dead?

My dad has hepatitis C. He went on Interferon for a while, which basically made him feel like shit. He was tired all the time and had no energy to do anything. He tried another drug after that in a clinical study. It helped him alot and wasn't as bad as the Interferon. I don't know what the name of the drug is, though. If you are really interested in taking drugs, I can find out for you.

The drug lowered his hep C levels alot so he should live to old age. He's also learned alot about liver function and works to keep himself healthy.

I'm sorry I can't be more specific, but I never bothered to learn about what he was going through.
