Smelly poo
    #4244001 - 06/01/05 02:05 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

I have two tubs of poo that I pasturized some days ago.
One of the tub is in a warmer area, and it smells soooo strong.
Like my gowdh. The other one isnt as bad and the wbs seems to be
colonizing it well whilst the other one seems to have stalled and
never gotten anywhere. I guess this is bacteria doing its thing & time to toss?

Yeah, usually the first sign of bacteria is a sour or wet sock type of odor. If colonization has stopped, toss it.

So how come it happends all over? Is it a gas that keeps the mycel from growing?

The key point in you're post was "a warm area". Warm areas are perfect breeding grounds for bacteria and molds. It's truly hard for mushroom mycelium to overcome a bacteria.

I did just toss it. Besides from being warm it was alittle
bit to wet also probably. It was damn hard squeezing that big
pillow of poo. I fisted it against the sink and all.

Thanks for your replies.

Yep! Too much moisture in a substrate that you're trying to colonize, is a step that will cause certain disaster. Added to warmth, look out! Bacteria thrive for those conditions.
