Did you weigh the yield from the 5gal LC?
I like the idea of it because it is so fast. I read one thread which mentioned a paper where a guy grew hard nuggets by using lots of aeration.
It is also more discrete and once you have a chamber made its maintenance is minimal. I don't expect it to be as potent per weight, but a beer keg would take up the same room as what I have now, and I wonder what would yeild more active substances over a year period.

They are prone to contams though. What do you think of my idea of adding addition sugars after the first amount is consumed. With a stir bar setup the growth should be rapid so there is less of a time scale for contams to take hold.

It weighed in under an ounce & was not very potent. I doubt adding more sugar & running the culture longer would increase potency.

1oz dry?? how did you harvest?
The additional sugar would be to create a larger mass of mycelium, I don't think potency will increase, but yeild will. After one week it should be pretty much spent of all sugars and you should have a nice mycelium network in the jar, if you were to add a concentrated malt solution to bring the overall broth up to 4% again I would imagine it would multiply very quickly and may be ready for more again in only a few days.
You wondered if your own would have been more potent if left for a week. Most reports on making tea from cakes say spent cakes are more potent. But there was one paper saying that the psilocybin concentration peaked after 7 days in a LC, I am not sure if it degraded quickly after that or just ceased producing it.

Simply pumped it out, filtered through metal screen type cone coffee filter & dried the myc mass in a dehydrator on filter paper at 80F.

I have just re-read Gottlieb's p. producers guide. He was claiming 10-20g dry PER LITRE! With a broth of potato and a mere 1% dextrose, or a 2% malt extract broth. Obviously he never even did it himself. I'd say he read some text book wrong and went out by a factor of 10. Probably mixed up a wet estimate for dry somewhere.

Yours ended with about 1.5g dry per litre. If I was using a 50l beer keg with 40l, the yield is repectable enough even if it is not at full potency. What would you estimate the potency to be compared to normal dried cubes, 1/2?

Rough estimate was about 20 - 25% as potent as dry fruit bodies.
